Beijing - China's health ministry said on Tuesday three suspected cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) have been upgraded to confirmed cases.
This brought to nine the number of confirmed Sars cases in China in the latest outbreak of the disease, which last year caused almost 800 deaths worldwide from some 8 000 infections.
There are no other suspected cases of Sars in the country, but several hundred people who have had contact with Sars patients are under medical observation for symptoms.
No new suspect or confirmed cases were reported nationwide during the last 24-hour reporting period that began at 10:00 on Monday, the health ministry said on its website.
