Beijing - China's health ministry said Friday a suspected SARS patient who died on April 19 in Anhui province had been suffering from the disease. Her death is the first attributed to SARS in China this year.
The woman, surnamed Wei, was the mother of a researcher who became the first person to be confirmed as a SARS patient in this latest outbreak.
The confirmation that Wei had Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome brings to five the number of confirmed cases in Beijing and Anhui. There are also four suspected cases, all in Beijing.
