Pretoria - The body of another South African victim of last week's tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia has been identified - bringing the total number of confirmed South African deaths to eight, the foreign affairs department said on Tuesday.
The body was identified in Phuket, Thailand, said spokesperson Nomfanelo Kota.
"We cannot release any details about this individual as it has not been authorised by the family," she said.
Kota said the number of South Africans missing and feared dead now stood at seven.
The number of South Africans unaccounted for, meanwhile, has dropped from 1137 on Monday to 985 by 11:00 on Tuesday.
"Many people came forward asking for their names to be removed from the list," Kota said.
