Johannesburg - The body of a fifth South African killed in last week's devastating tsunami in South Asia has been found in Thailand, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Sunday.
The Foreign Affairs consular office in Thailand had indicated that the man's body was found on Krabi island, said spokesperson, Ronnie Mamoepa.
This brings to five the number of South Africans known to have died in the tragedy. The bodies of the others were repatriated aboard a mercy-flight on Wednesday.
Mamoepa said the authorities were working on plans to bring the fifth body back to South Africa.
There were still 12 South Africans unaccounted for, ten of them in Thailand and two in Mayanmar. The two South Africans feared missing in India had been found, he said.
