London attack a matter of time

Copenhagen - British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said on Tuesday it was just a matter of time before a terrorist attack hits London or another European city.

"We have to work on the basis that the question of a terror attack in London as anywhere else in Europe is not a matter of if but when," he told reporters in Copenhagen after talks with his Danish counterpart Per Stig Moeller.

"We therefore have to take proven steps to prepare for that terrible event," he said, adding: "This is a threat which is shared across the whole of the civilised world, as in Germany, as in France, as in Italy and everywhere in Europe."
