San Diego - Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger will stand for a second term as California's governor when elections are held next year, a member of his campaign told AFP on Friday.
The Terminator hero turned Republican politician won a special election for governor in October 2003 after his predecessor was voted out of office in a recall referendum.
He has been hinting for months that he would seek a new term in an election due in November 2006.
On Wednesday, he told supporters: "I'm not in this just for the short term. I believe very strongly in follow through.
"You sent me to Sacramento to fix a broken system and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
Schwarzenegger stood as a reform candidate, but his popularity with Democratic and independent voters has fallen badly in recent months.
