London - A rush hour train with about 90 commuters onboard derailed in a tunnel in Liverpool, north-west England, late on Wednesday but there were no fatalities, police said.
The train, which travels both under and above ground, came off the track as it travelled between the Lime Street and Central stations at about 18:00 (17:00 GMT).
"We have no reports of any fatalities or injuries as yet," a spokesperson for the British transport police told AFP.
"I don't think it was a serious accident," she said.
Firefighters were at the scene helping to get stranded commuters off the train five at a time, a spokesperson for Merseyside fire and rescue said.
