Manchester, England - The stars of England and Wales and 65 000 fans at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium stood for a minute's silence ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifying game as a mark of respect to Kenneth Bigley, the British hostage killed by Iraqi kidnappers.
Bigley, 62, was abducted on September 16 along with two Americans from their home in the upscale Mansour neighbourhood of Baghdad.
He had been held hostage for three weeks before news emerged on Friday that his captors had beheaded him.
The two Americans - Eugene Armstrong, 52, and Jack Hensley, 48 - were beheaded a few days after their capture.
