Athens - Passenger flights across Greece have been grounded because of a four-hour strike by the country's air traffic controllers.
The controllers walked off the job on Thursday at 08:00. Their union is pressing the government to strictly enforce international flight regulations and crack down on interference in their communications systems by radio broadcasters.
Airlines have cancelled or delayed dozens of domestic and international flights. Athens International Airport said that 78 flights to or from there had been cancelled for the day, while a further 79 had changed their departure or arrival times.
On Wednesday, Greece's Olympic Airlines said it would cancel more than 30 flights due to the strike, while Aegean Airlines was cancelling 20 flights and rescheduling another 40. Flights by other airlines were also affected.
