Washington - One member of a US special operations team missing in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan has been rescued, US television reported on Sunday.
US military officials told CNN television that the rescued soldier managed to "evade the enemy" and had been successfully rescued by US forces.
CNN reported that there was no word on the fate of three other soldiers who were part of the same special forces reconnaissance team missing since suspected Taliban rebels shot down a US helicopter during an attempt to extract the team five days ago.
The MH-47 Chinook chopper was downed on Tuesday by what is believed to be a rocket-propelled grenade, killing 16 military personnel, including eight elite US Navy Seals.
