London - British Prime Minister Tony Blair has been admitted to hospital suffering from chest pains.
Downing Street said he had been suffering "irregular heartbeats" and had been feeling under the weather.
Blair, 50, underwent five hours of tests at the
specialist heart care unit at Hammersmith Hospital, west London, before returning to Downing Street.
He is said to be feeling "fine" but has been told to rest for 24 hours.
Blair underwent a cardio-conversion procedure, where either an injection of chemicals or electro-shock therapy are used to stabilise the heartbeat.
It is the first known time Blair has suffered any notable ill health since Labour came to power in 1997.
