Beirut - Three people were killed and several others injured early on Wednesday in an explosion at a shopping centre near Lebanon's port of Jounie, north of Beirut, private television station LBCI reported.
Police confirmed that an explosion took place at 01:30 on Wednesday, saying that it could confirm in the first instance "a woman had been killed and an Indian man injured in the explosion in a shopping centre".
The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
The explosion took place in a shopping centre in Kaslik, near the port which is located 20km north of Beirut in a mainly Christian area.
The television station showed a body covered with a blanket, and extensive damage in the area, with broken glass lying on the pavement.
The explosion comes days after an overnight bomb blast late last Friday wounded 11 people here.
The explosions come at a time of political friction in Lebanon between the pro-Syrian administration and the country's anti-Syrian opposition, which intensified after the February 14 assassination of former prime minister Rafiq Hariri. - AFP
