Paris - The US Central Intelligence Agency has warned French authorities of a threat to carry out an attack on Thursday evening on either the Paris suburban rail network or the subway, police sources said.
Police said the CIA had alerted authorities here to an anonymous message it had received warning of a possible attack between 18:30 and 19:30 GMT.
Traffic on a line of the Paris regional suburban rail network, the RER, was halted on Thursday evening after what police described as the threat of an attack.
Main stations and interconnections were being evacuated, they said.
