Ramallah, West Bank - Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is not in a coma and new test results by his doctors in France are positive, prime minister Ahmed Qorei told reporters on Thursday.
This after reports from Paris that Arafat was in a coma and in an "extremely bad state".
French medical sources said Arafat was on life support at the Percy military hospital in Clamart, southwest of Paris.
Qorei denied this.
"He is being treated, his situation has not deteriorated," Qorei said after a meeting of the central committee of Arafat's Fatah party.
"He is not in a coma. His doctors are very good and taking good care of him.
"There have been examinations and results are positive."
