Gaza City - An Israeli helicopter fired two missiles on Thursday at a Palestinian car in the Gaza Strip, killing at least two people, Palestinian security sources said.
The missiles hit the car as it was nearing the entrance of the Gaza town of Rafah, not far from the Egyptian border, the Palestinian sources said.
Israeli helicopters often target militants. It was unclear whether the dead belonged to one of the militant groups.
The army had no immediate comment.
The military has been operating in the Rafah area in recent days, shutting the Gaza-Egypt border crossing as troops search for arms-smuggling tunnels and a bomb they believe has been planted under an army outpost, military officials said.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli forces entered the Rafah refugee camp, residents said. Bulldozers destroyed at least 18 abandoned buildings, which the army said militants used as cover when firing on Israeli forces.
