San Salvador - A strong earthquake measuring at least 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked part of El Salvador on Friday sowing panic in the Central American country still reeling from floods and landslides that have left 65 people dead this week.
The quake was centered off the Pacific coast, according to the Nicaraguan seismic service, Ineter.
"We are still working on determining what damage the earthquake may have done," said interior minister Rene Figueroa.
Local radio said the temblor was felt in the centre and west of the country.
