Beirut - Jordanian terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's militant group pledged on Monday to continue its holy war in Iraq until it is free of occupation.
In a statement published on the internet, the al-Qaeda group in Iraq said Sunday's national assembly elections would not stop its struggle "but will only increase our strength and insistence" to fight.
"Your brothers in the al-Qaeda organisation ... (in Iraq) will continue the jihad until the banner of (Islamic) unity flutters over Iraq," it said.
"We would like to reassure the nation that this step (elections) will be similar to previous steps, such as forming the governing council and (Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad) Allawi's government.
"These elections and their results will not affect us in the al-Qaeda in Iraq, but will increase our strength and intention to getting rid of injustice."
"Let Bush, Blair ... know that we are the enemies of democracy," it added.
It said there were practically no elections in Muslim Sunni areas of Iraq "except for some theatrics that they made up to fool people".
