Johannesburg - A 12-year-old boy from Bergsig in Springbok was murdered - allegedly after his mother asked his uncle to punish him, Kimberley police said on Sunday.
"It is alleged that the deceased was hit with an object on his head by his uncle," said Superintendent Mashay Gamieldien.
"It is believed that the deceased's mother had asked his uncle to punish him."
Gamieldien said the incident took place on Friday just before 23:00.
The boy died at the scene as a result of his injuries and his 30-year-old uncle was arrested.
He was due to appear soon in the Springbok Magistrate's Court on a count of murder, said Gamieldien.
