Bali police interrogate two

Denpasar - Bali's police chief said on Tuesday two people were being interrogated as part of the investigation into the weekend bombings, but that so far there was no indication they were involved.

I Made Mangku Pastika said police were concentrating on identifying the three dead suicide bombers, whose severed heads were recovered relatively undamaged from the site of Saturday's bombings.

Pastika said the two people being questioned were not Balinese.

"They are just being interrogated and there are as yet no strong indications that they are involved in the bombings," he told reporters, adding they were taken into detention two days ago in Bali.

Came from one group

"They are suspected but so far there has not been any strong indication that they were involved," he said.

Pastika stressed that no arrests had been made so far in connection with the bombings and that the two men "are only being asked for information".

"We have to identify these people first. After we know who they are, we will trace back their presence further," he said.

Pastika said it was likely the bombers arrived earlier than the day of the attacks, and that he hoped their movements could be traced.

"They surely must have been staying one or two days and therefore we are asking the assistance of all Balinese to help us to know who they are."

The police chief said that based on the types of bombs and the method used, "it can almost be ascertained that they come from one group."
