Durban - KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating a possible murder and suicide after a man's body was found hanging from a tree and his son was found dead in their home on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Vincent Pandarum said the body of Clary Narainsamy, 36, was found hanging by a length of electric flex from a tree in a park about 100m from his house at Craigieburn on the South Coast.
He said Narainsamy had been involved in a domestic dispute and his wife Shamim Khan, 27, had gone to her parents' home in the same area.
The couple's two sons, a six-year-old and a toddler, were with their mother. But Narainsamy took the six-year-old, Zaihid Khan, to stay with him.
He said some time during Monday night the Grade 1 child was smothered or strangled and his body was found on a bed in the house.
The bodies have been taken to the Scottburgh police mortuary and a post-mortem examination would be done to determine the cause of their deaths, Pandarum said.
