Berlin - Four cars were torched in Berlin overnight into Wednesday as apparent small-scale copying of the recent wave of violence in France continued.
No suspects were immediately identified in the two separate incidents, both in downtown neighbourhoods of former East Berlin, police said.
A total of nine cars have been set alight in the German capital since the weekend, and police were investigating whether there was any direct link to the violence in France. Germany's neighbour saw its 13th straight night of unrest into Wednesday, with 617 cars burned and 116 towns affected according to police.
There have been other apparent copycat crimes in other German cities, most recently with three cars set alight in the eastern German city of Chemnitz on Tuesday.
