Jerusalem - Three people were killed on Thursday when an Israeli soldier opened fire on a bus in the north of the country, police said.
The man fired off a round of bullets after he and a group of passengers became embroiled in an argument on the bus as it travelled between the northern Galilee town of Shfaram and the coastal city of Haifa.
Three people were killed and five other passengers injured, three of them seriously, said police.
Authorities immediately ruled out the shooting as an anti-Israeli attack and said an investigation had been opened to get to the bottom of the incident.
The soldier was wrestled to the ground and arrested.
