Powell: North Korea to get aid
2004-04-26 20:40
Washington - Declaring the United States has always been a giving nation, Secretary of State Colin Powell announced on Monday an unspecified amount of American aid will be given to North Korea in the aftermath of a devastating train collision.
Powell said the Bush administration was working with the United Nations in helping North Korea. He did not say how much would be provided to the communist regime.
Despite differences with North Korea over its weapons programmes and authoritarian policies, the United States has been the largest provider of food aid to the economically beleaguered Asian country.
