Alexandria - Zacarias Moussaoui told his death-penalty trial on Monday that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden ordered him to fly a plane into the White House on September 11 2001.
The French Al-Qaeda operative gave a dramatic new explanation of his planned role in the attacks in his first testimony to the trial being heard in Virginia.
Defence lawyer Gerald Zerkin asked Moussaoui whether he had been part of the September 11 plot.
Moussaoui replied: "Yes".
"I was supposed to pilot a plane to hit the White House."
Zerkin asked who told him to fly a plane into the presidential mansion.
"Osama bin Laden," replied Moussaoui.
