Bogota - A top Colombia guerrilla leader suspected of kidnapping 12 governemnt officials was arrested, police said on Monday.
Police said Colombian security forces arrested Luis Castillo, finance chief of the left-wing Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), in connection with last year's kidnapping of city councillors from Valle de Cauca Province last year.
In clashes with rightwing paramilitary groups, the Colombian Army said two fighters were killed, eight were wounded and weapons were seized. The fighting occurred in the Meta, Santander and La Guajira provinces. - Sapa-DPA
