Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Two international students were found shot to death inside an apartment at a university in the US state of Louisiana, and authorities said on Friday the men were likely slain during a home invasion.
The victims, Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, both international Ph.D. students at Louisiana State University, were found inside an apartment at the Edward Gay complex, police said. They were discovered after a call to campus police Thursday night seeking medical attention.
Authorities did not release their nationalities or other details.
No suspects had been identified.
Emergency text messages were sent to members of the LSU community and the school sent out e-mails and posted a message on its website advising of the incident.
US universities have stepped up their response to such incidents in the wake of an April mass shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech University in which a gunman killed 32 people over a two hour period before killing himself.
University officials there were criticised for what some said was a delay in informing students about a gunman on the loose. Administrators have defended their response, saying they promptly released the information they had available.
