Germany - A German man who allegedly produced computer-based child pornography gave himself up to the police after receiving the Sober e-mail worm.
The 20-year-old believed that he was being investigated by authorities after receiving the virus, reports Times Online.
"We're used to explaining to people that there's no such thing as a good virus," says Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at UK anti-virus company Sophos.
"But in this case it appears that the Sober-Z worm has accidentally scared an internet paedophile into contacting the police."
The worm sends e-mails saying that authorities are aware of the recipient's visits to illegal websites.
