Cairo - At least 23 Israelis were killed in an explosion at the Hilton hotel in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Taba late on Thursday, Egyptian police sources said.
They said a second explosion was heard in the Sinai desert region of Nuaiba, between the Red Sea resorts of Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh.
The blast at the Hilton hotel in Taba, a resort frequented by Israeli tourists, was probably caused by an attack, Israeli radio said, quoting security sources.
It said police believed it was caused by a car bomb, although Egyptian public television said a gas leak was behind the explosion.
