Tehran - An Iranian military C-130 transport plane with scores of people on board crashed into a 10-storey building in a residential area of the capital Tehran on Tuesday, national media reported.
State television said the plane encountered a "technical problem" immediately after take-off from Tehran's Mehrabad airport, which handles domestic, international and military flights.
"There were between 74 and 90 people on board," a civil aviation official said.
The plane went down in the Yaftabad district in the south of the sprawling city, which is currently enveloped in a blanket of thick smog, and the student news agency ISNA said it crashed into a 10-storey building.
The Isna report said the building was in flames.
Emergency services are at the scene, state television said.
