Los Angeles - A California bachelor has rented a giant billboard in Hollywood and launched an online campaign in a bid to find his ideal new wife.
The 44-year-old investment banker, known as Dean, has paid for a giant hoarding featuring an enormous, smiling photograph of himself above the slogan: "Single-Successful-Ready" and proclaiming: "Wife wanted".
The huge personal advert, erected in the predominantly gay area of West Hollywood, refers interested candidates to Dean's website, www.Billboardbachelor.com.
On the website, Dean sets out his vital statistics: he's divorced, financially secure, Protestant, lives in Orange County, does not smoke, drinks only socially is 1.8m tall and enjoys golf and skiing.
He offers applicants the chance to fill in their vital statistics on a romantic webform asking them details including their age, weight, hair colour, profession, ethnicity, faith, education, hobbies and fitness habits.
In addition, the prospective wives are asked to upload a picture of themselves before joining what he called "the process", which includes the applicants receiving an automatically generated e-mail informing them their form has been received.
Other single men in Los Angeles - the second largest city in the United States known for its sprawling suburbs, freeways and notoriously-tough dating scene - have used the same method of seeking a wife in the past.
