California - A snowboarder from Ireland remained hospitalised nearly a week after her leg was crushed by a snow-removal vehicle as she walked on a town street.
Tara Mary Flynn, 22, from Cratloe in County Clare, was at Renown Regional Medical Centre in Reno, Nevada, Sergeant Paul Dostie said.
She was in serious condition on Tuesday, said Alexia Batiotis, a spokesperson at the hospital 257km north of Mammoth Lakes.
Flynn was walking on the shoulder of a road on Thursday when a snow loader merged right to allow room for an approaching car and its front bucket full of snow struck the woman, according to a police statement.
She fell to the ground and "the front right wheel of the loader ran over her left leg, crushing it", the statement said.
The loader operator said he did not see the woman until he saw a snowboard "flying into the air", the statement said.
Mammoth Lakes is a major ski resort town in the eastern Sierra Nevada, 523km north of Los Angeles.
