Moscow - At least three people have been killed following a blast in a fireworks storage facility in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, news agency RIA Novosti reported on Saturday.
The accident took place in a former bomb shelter used to store about 400kg of fireworks ahead of New Year's celebrations, a member of the city's civil defence authorities told RIA Novosti.
A lack of safety standards around Russia's New Year's fireworks celebrations often results in death and injury.
New security legislation is intended to address this issue in 2008, which amongst other stipulations will ban the storage of fireworks in domestic homes.
