Lesson 1: Homosexuality

Bangkok - Metropolitan authorities are considering adding lessons on homosexuality to school curricula citywide to help promote harmony between straight and gay children, a news report said on Thursday.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) has given gay-rights Bangkok Rainbow Group two months to draft an appropriate text on the touchy topic before deciding whether the lessons would be appropriate for school children or not, said The Nation newspaper.
"We hope to make teachers and students understand homosexual children better and help (gay and straight students) live in harmony," said BMA deputy governor Pensri Pichaisanit.
There are more than 400 schools in the capital under BMA control.
Bangkok Rainbow Group leader Natee Teerojjanaponsg said the text would be based on his own handbook entitled "Gay Unwrapping".
"I am gay. I used to be mistreated by friends... Now I am a conscious gay who wants to spare homosexual children such suffering," Natee, who is also a BMA committee member, told The Nation, an English-language daily. - DPA
