Athens - A mild earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook the Athens hinterland on Tuesday, spreading fear among residents but causing no casualties, according to initial police comments.
The epicentre of the quake lay about 37km north of the capital.
The tremor was also felt on the island of Euboea, where firefighters from Greece and Europe were on Tuesday continuing to battle wildfires that have killed 63 people since Friday. - Sapa-dpa
