Riyadh - The British national shot dead in Riyadh on Sunday and the fellow Briton wounded were both BBC journalists, security sources told AFP.
The two, one of them a cameraman, came under fire while on a reporting assignment in the al-Suwaidi district in the south of the Saudi capital, the sources said.
The incident occurred near the home of a top terror suspect, Ibrahim al-Rayyes, who was gunned down during a clash with Saudi security forces in the area a few months ago, they said.
Riyadh's police chief said a British national was shot dead and another wounded in the capital on Sunday, but did not identify them.
In London, the foreign office said the British embassy was "urgently trying to confirm the identities" of the casualties.
A BBC spokesperson, meanwhile, said: "We are looking into it. We have no comment to make at the moment."
