UN confirms Hariri deal

New York - UN chief investigator Detlev Mehlis has reached a deal with Damascus to question five Syrians on the murder of Lebanese ex-premier Rafiq Hariri.

UN spokesperson Marie Okabe said they would be questioned in Vienna.

"The Secretary-General (Kofi Annan) spoke with Mr Mehlis who confirmed that he had reached agreement with Syrian officials" for conducting the interrogation in UN offices in the Austrian capital.
