Suicide bomber kills 10 in Iraq

2005-12-23 20:13

Baghdad - Ten Iraqis, including a policeman, were killed on Friday when a suicide bomber rode a bicycle into a mosque courtyard north of Baghdad and blew himself up, said the US military.

A local Iraqi official had earlier reported four people killed and eight wounded when the bomber attacked the Shi'ite mosque in Baladruz, about 50 kilometres north of the capital.

The man was unable to get into the mosque itself and detonated the bomb he was wearing in the courtyard, said the military.

There have been repeated suicide bombing attacks against Shi'ite mosques, including one in November that left more than 150 dead and injured in Khanaqin near the Iranian border.
