Dushanbe - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that terrorist attacks in Iraq were aimed at torpedoing the election campaign of US President George W Bush.
"Any objective observer understands that attacks by international terrorist organisations in Iraq, in today's circumstances, are aimed not so much at the international coalition as at President Bush," he said while on a visit to the central Asian state of Tajikistan.
"International terrorists aim to cause maximum damage to Bush and not allow his re-election to a second term," he said.
