Brussels - The European Union said on Monday it would offer to help Iran develop peaceful nuclear power as part of a package aimed at persuading Tehran to curb its atomic ambitions.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, speaking after EU ministers had discussed Iran in regular talks in Brussels, said the 25-nation bloc could offer the Islamic republic "the most-sophisticated" technology to help its power needs.
"We want to prove to the Iranians that we have nothing against ... Iran using nuclear power for peaceful means," he told reporters, adding that: "We are going to present a plan to them, a co-operative project to them."
