Rome - Six people have been arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on the Group of Eight summit next month in Italy, the Ansa news agency reported on Thursday.
The six were arrested on Wednesday and accused of criminal association for purposes of terrorism and arms possession, one month ahead of the July 8-10 summit of the world's leading industrialised nations, Ansa said.
The group planned an attack at the summit's original venue, the Sardinian island of La Maddalena, Ansa said. Other press reports said they had been targeting the new venue, the earthquake-hit city of L'Aquila in central Italy.
