Genoa, Italy - New clashes have broken out between protesters and Italian police here as tens of thousands of demonstrators at a G8 summit began returning to the streets.
Police said the clashes, reported shortly after noon (10:00 GMT),
were taking place near the prison.
The clashes came just ahead of a march expected to gather up to
150 000 people, the biggest anti-globalisation protest ever.
ANSA news agency said the trouble broke out between anarchists from
the "Black Block" group and riot police.
The protesters had smashed windows and were making petrol bombs.
Genoa was the scene of severe violence on Friday at the opening of the three-day Group of Eight summit and one protester was
killed.
The death was the first ever to occur during an anti-globalisation
protest.
