What the Bali bomb was made of

Kuta - The car bomb outside a Bali nightclub contained a fertiliser ingredient and plastic explosive, an Australian investigator said Monday.
Brett Swan said the bomb outside the Sari Club contained between 50kg and 150kg of ammonium nitrate, which is a
fertiliser ingredient, mixed with C4 plastic explosive.
Another bomb, which went off inside the Padi Club moments
before the Sari one, consisted of TNT weighing less than one kilogram.
Swann said reports of a third bomb inside a car parked in front of Padi had been discounted by investigators. Indonesian police said on Sunday three bombs had gone off.
Some experts have said the smaller bomb was designed to drive
people out into the street just before the bigger blast, to
maximise the death toll. More than 180 people were killed.
Swan said the bombings were carried out by "highly organised"
perpetrators.
"The timing of the explosions was made to maximize the number of deaths," he said, adding that investigators had not yet found any evidence of suicide bombing.
Indonesian deputy police spokesman brigadier-general Edward
Aritonang said the blast site would not be opened until next month because residents had asked permission to perform a
traditional ceremony for the dead.
"We will use the extra time to further deepen our investigation on the blast site," he added.
Body parts were still being found at the scene on Monday, nine days after the bombing, said field co-ordinator Agus Bambang. - Sapa-AFP
