Policeman shot dead in Mpuma

Nelspruit - An off-duty policeman was shot dead on Thursday by a fleeing robber at Kanyamazane outside Nelspruit, Mpumalanga police said.
Captain Benjamin Bembe said the officer was shot in the face
while chasing a robber following an armed robbery in the area.
He said the officer, who was at home, heard gunfire around
1.30 and went to investigate. He saw police chasing the man and
joined them.
During the pursuit, the gunman turned and shot the policeman at
point blank range, Bembe said.
The gunman was still at large.
Bembe added that police wanted to speak to Bethuel Nyasenga, who
could assist in the investigation.
