Rome - Mauro Bergamasco scored a late try on Saturday to give Italy a 23-20 win over Wales and a second win in a Six Nations season for the first time.
After a period of sustained pressure by Italy's forwards close to Wales' try-line, Bergamasco collected flyhalf Ramiro Pez's chip to touch down under the posts and follow up last month's 37-17 win at Scotland.
It was the first time Italy has won two matches in a season in the Six Nations since entering the competition in 2000.
Kaine Robinson also scored a try for Italy and Pez kicked two conversions and three penalties.
Shane Williams and Matthew Rees touched down for Wales, Stephen Jones kicked a conversion, and James Hook kicked two penalties and a conversion for the visitors' 20 points.
It was Wales' fourth straight defeat in the tournament.
