SA to respect Fifa standards

Zurich - South Africa would respect Fifa standards if it was granted the opportunity to host the 2010 Soccer World Cup, President Thabo Mbeki told the soccer body on Friday.
He told the Fifa executive committee in Zurich, Switzerland, South Africa would also ensure that the African continent sustained the pride of Fifa and all footballers.
"We pledge to the Fifa executive committee if South Africa is granted the privilege we will ensure that we respect the high standards that Fifa must necessarily set as a condition for granting this privilege."
Mbeki was making the final presentation on South Africa's bid for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
