Johannesburg - Former South African star Herschelle Gibbs could turn out for the Pretoria-based Titans team in the Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament in India later this year.
Norman Arendse, president of Cricket SA, has confirmed that Gibbs may play for the Titans.
The tournament to find the best provincial Twenty20 team is likely to take place in December.
The Titans and the Dolphins from KwaZulu-Natal will represent South Africa against India's Rajastan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, Western Australia and Victoria, Middlesex from England and a team from Pakistan.
The tournament was initially scheduled to be held in September and early October.
However, it was due to start a day after the final of the International Cricket Council's Champions tournament in Pakistan. A new date must now be found.
December may be the only suitable time. South Africa's national team will then be in Australia and the Titans will be without AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Morné Morkel and Paul Harris.
Arendse said on Sunday players from other franchises might be included in the teams representing South Africa and Gibbs could take the place of De Villiers in the Titans side.
