Johannesburg - Eastern Province and South Africa right-arm speed merchant Mfuneko Ngam will join the National Academy on Tuesday.
The 24 year-old Ngam has been sidelined by a foot injury since October last year.
At the Academy Ngam will follow a strict rehabilitation programme set by the Eastern Province physiotherapist and the orthopaedic specialist who has been treating him.
"He is here for rehabilitation. For us it's fantastic as he will inspire the other guys, especially as he has played at the highest level," said director of coaching and academy chief Anton Ferreira.
Ngam who was at the Academy in 2000 looks forward to be among the current 15-member squad. "I feel that I have recovered from my injury. What I need to do now is to regain fitness and with my participation at the Academy I trust that I shall be able to achieve it," he said.
Ngam made his debut against New Zealand in the 2000/01 season and has played three Tests. He took 11 wickets with the best figures of three for 26 against Sri Lanka at Newlands in Cape Town.
