Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa's Chief Executive Officer, Gerald Majola, on Thursday welcomed the ejection from the Melbourne Cricket Ground of a spectator making racist taunts during the 2nd Test between South Africa and Australia.
Similar incidents at last week's Test in Perth led to a complaint being laid by the South African team management with the International Cricket Council's match referee, Chris Broad.
Majola said: "This swift action by the MCG authorities in ejecting this perpetrator of racial abuse is welcomed by Cricket South Africa.
"We hope that this action will deter others, and help stamp out this evil in cricket. We are grateful to Cricket Australia for stepping up security to protect our players in this way," he said.
