Hockenheim - McLaren completed a sweep of German Grand Prix practice on Saturday with Heikki Kovalainen edging Ferrari's Felipe Massa in the final test before qualifying for Sunday's race.
Kovalainen set the pace with about two minutes remaining in the 60-minute session with a lap of 1 minute, 15.621 seconds, edging Massa by 0.07 seconds.
Lewis Hamilton, who topped both of Friday's practice sessions, trailed his Finnish teammate by 0.218 seconds in much better conditions than the previous day's cool, wet weather.
Hamilton, coming off a dominant victory at the British GP, leads a three-way tie at the top of Formula One's championship, ahead of Ferrari pair Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. All three drivers have 48 points, two better than Robert Kubica of BMW Sauber.
Raikkonen, the defending world champion, was ninth with a lap of 1:16.380.
Fernando Alonso of Renault was fourth ahead of Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel.
Kubica only managed a best lap of 1:17.469, which left the Polish driver last in the 20-car field.
No McLaren driver has won at Hockenheim since Mika Hakkinen 10 years ago, while Ferrari has five victories since then, the last coming through Michael Schumacher in 2006. - Sapa-AP
