Montreal - Championship leader Lewis Hamilton crashed into title holder Kimi Raikkonen in the pit lane of the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix which forced both to retire in a bizarre incident.
McLaren's Hamilton, Ferrari driver Raikkonen, Poland's Robert Kubica and several others went into the pits to refuel when the safety car was on the track in the 18th lap when Adrian Sutil's Force India car had to be taken off the course.
Raikkonen and the BMW driver Kubica exited side by side but were stopped by a red light at the end of the lane because the safety car and other cars were passing on the track. Seemingly unaware of the red light, Hamilton crashed into Raikkonen which forced both to retire.
Raikkonen patted Hamilton on the shoulder and pointed his finger at the signal when he walked past the unfortunate Briton.
Hamilton was leading the race from pole ahead of Kubica and Raikkonen at the time. The incident now allowed Kubica an excellent chance to win a first career GP for himself and BMW. - Sapa-dpa
